PANORAMIC VIEW OF CHANGING SCRANTON — This is Scranton in 1972, center of an area with an economy based on diversified industries and a far cry from the "coal mining town boasting of the title of "Anthracite Capital of the World" when The Scrantonian first was published 75 years ago. Note the ultra modern Central City Expressway at the bottom of the aerial picture and the handsome array of University of Scranton facilities across the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad tracks from that expressway. Scores of familiar buildings and other facilities can readily be identified.
