Women's Rights

Throughout the nineteenth century expanding until the present, women fought for the recognition of their rights as citizens and persons. While it is not possible to encapsulate an entire movement into a few documents, the United Nations passage regarding the elimination of discrimination against women shows that the international community now acknowledges the rights of women, rather than simply countries who have a culture that leans toward that facet. Women’s suffrage is now universal, something that shows the expansion of human rights to women. This is not to forget the current systems that oppress women but demonstrate the progress that has already been made.
