Introduction

“We shall overcome because the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”  - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

This project aims to analyze how early modern political philosophers' work has influenced contemporary political documents. Through this framework, human rights and citizenship were expanded from only white, wealthy, and male persons to a more universal idea of human persons. This shows the slow expansion of the moral arc of history, building off of the early modern era.
