LGBTQ+ Liberation
There have been several documents that have tried to ensure the rights of LGBTQ+ people—from both the community itself and the international community. However, even though the United Nations has passed a resolution regarding preventing violence and discrimination against LGBTQ+ individuals, the makeup of the United Nations has made having official documentation much more difficult. While there have been continual attempts to promote the rights of racial minorities and women, this resolution was passed in 2016 and it was not even close to unanimous.1 This may be due to the fact that the majority of countries in the United Nations still hold significant anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment, making this document a good step forward but not enough to create a universal consensus nor fully expand the philosophical ideals to all people equally.
