The Weinberg Memorial Library celebrates the legacy of Rev. Scott R. Pilarz, S.J. 'H15 (1959-2021), on the 20th anniversary of his appointment as the 24th President of The University of Scranton in 2003. Father Pilarz, who passed away on March 10, 2021, also served as the University's 27th President from 2018 to 2021. The exhibit presents hundreds of photographs, videos, and archival records to commemorate Father Pilarz's two terms as University President and honor him as a beloved member of our University community.
The exhibit, Pride, Passion, Promise, is organized thematically and explores Father Pilarz's legacy as an inspirational leader of The University of Scranton. The photographs and records from the University Archives illustrate milestone moments from his presidencies and his vast contributions to the University. The exhibit title recalls a signature campaign spearheaded by Father Pilarz as part of the 2005-2010 Strategic Plan. The Pride, Passion, Promise Campaign was the most ambitious capital campaign in the University’s history and surpassed its $125 million fundraising goal.
