Italian Leaf from a Lectionary ca. 1175
The leaf contains nighttime lessons mentioning the third vigil, “in tertia vigilia.” In the Hours of the Liturgy, the Vigil was recited after midnight. This hour was also known as Matins. The lessons are related to Saints Peter, Paul and Barnabus and there are references to the Acts of the Apostles.
