Italian Leaf from a Dogale ca. 1608

Humanist script is characterized by a conscious return to the forms of Carolingian script, round letterforms and long ascenders and descenders. In this case ascenders are clubbed. This particular manuscript displays the title in classical capitals of gold. This example of  Humanist writing is italic cursive.
