For this next athlete, Wilbur Flanagan, there is less information available on him. What we do know is that he is Tom Flanagan’s brother. Wilbur was a student athlete from 1946-1949. Wilbur was a highly talented player who excelled on both sides of the ball. Flanagan was also a veteran who served in World War II.
Wilbur is a perfect example for the lack of representation for Black student athletes. There is hardly any information available on him other than how he performed in some games.
Wilbur likely had similar experiences on campus to what his brother, Tom Flanagan had. For more information of Wilbur’s experiences, refer to the section on Tom Flanagan.
Wilbur Flanagan died in 2006.
