We are two History majors and an International Studies major who chose to pursue this research question because of a shared interest in the Supreme Court, which related to our class’s larger focus on affirmative action. Our interest in this project was enhanced by the fact that the Supreme Court is currently reconsidering affirmative action in a way which could potentially spell the end of the use of the practice in admissions to institutions of higher education. It is our hope that the research we have conducted in this area inspires further investigation into the views of the University of Scranton students and faculty on and in regards to important Supreme Court cases dealing with the issue of affirmative action.
