These ideas have been utilized to harm other humans, despite their importance in creating the foundations for justice in contemporary political documents. Slavery was enshrined in constitutions, the Reign of Terror grew out of the French Revolution, and white supremacy can be justified through some of these texts. However, it is important to note that the harm done does not nullify all good done. Instead of jettisoning these ideas, it is important to recognize that harm and good have come out of it, thus allowing humanity to continue to foster ideas of human rights and justice. It is possible to condemn the harm done without completely disregarding the history which allowed for reflection in the first place.
