Fortress of the Bear

"In Sitka, Alaska there is an amazing place where bears that cannot be returned to the wild are given a home. The refuge is a sizeable indoor/outdoor facility that provides a safe environment with a natural atmosphere for the bears. The refuge has been in existence since 2007 and is a non-profit organization. In 2018, I was fortune to visit the “Fortress of the Bear”. My photos only show some of the facility as they were undergoing a renovation of the main building."--Mary Kovalcin
